News 4 Now: All your New York City headlines in 3 minutes or less. With less than a day until the midterm elections, Democrats and Republicans are making their final pitches to voters in hopes of picking up seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. Democrats have to win 23 seats to flip the House, while Republicans believe they have a favorable slate of elections to maintain a majority in the Senate. And both President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama were out on the campaign trail hoping to sway last-minute undecided voters. Locally, several key races are also reaching their conclusions. In New Jersey, Sen. Bob Menendez is hoping to beat Republican challenger Bob Hugin; and in New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo looks to beat Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro to win a third term.
