Serious Eats Manila: Izakaya Kenta Malate Bayview Mansion Adriatico Street.  Izakaya Kenta is one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in the Malate area having started operations in 1997 and serve a full range of Japanese cuisine including Sashimi, Sushi, Maki, Nimono, Agemono, Yakimono, Donburi, Ramen, Udon, Nabe and more.  It was originally owned and operated by Japanese investors but have since sold out in 2013 to Doctor Reynaldo Medina who has worked in Japan as an engineer for a few years and upon coming back to the Philippines has grown this izakaya to 3 branches around Metro Manila.  Today we visit their flagship restaurant along Adriatico Street in Malate close to Remedios Circle.  This authentic Japanese restaurant comfortably seats 70 guests and features 5 private dining rooms with tatami tables as well as a casual dining section and sushi bar.  From their menu we would highly recommend the Salmon Sashimi, Uni Sashimi, Nattou Maki, Tako and Hotate Nigiri, Ebi Tempura, Ika Geso Karaage, Tako Potato, Asparagus Bacon Yaki, Horenso Bacon Itame, Asari Miso Soup and for dessert fresh grapes!  For those on a budget or prefer to drink with their Japanese food they have a decent 50% Happy Hour discount promo from 9PM - 12 midnight on food and drinks from their special menu.
