Reed Waddle is an incredible songwriter I got introduced to at the 30A Songwriter's Festival. If you haven't listened to his music - go buy some on iTunes and check him out live if you ever get a chance. This was actually a practice run-through, but I'm busy this week - so I uploaded it as-is, mistakes and all. Hope you like it!

Lyrics:

Some say life is a gambler's game
Played by many and won by few
Others say life is the price that you pay
Well you get here too early, then you're leaving too soon
Prime of existence, the stars that shine
Beneath the jet black, velveteen skies
And at night the colors light up like a carnival ride
Dance like a demon in the winter moonlight
The moon's shining at you like a candle in the night

One day you'll find yourself upon a mountain top lookin in all directions
Wonderin how your dreary soul could grow so incredibly high
Taste this kiss, I'd kill to feel like this, for all of my lifetime
Hold you close beneath those velveteen skies

I've got these pictures hanging over my head
Dancing like a wildfire at night
All the colors come alive when I'm lying in my bed
Dance like the demon in the winter moonlight
Said yes, sweet Madeline you know what love can do
Pick you up and bring you to your knees
It's never easy leaving deserts you once walked through
I'm a poet in the rain, don't know where I'll be going
I'm a rambler in the wind, don't know where my skies'll blow

One day you'll find yourself upon a mountain top lookin in all directions
Wonderin how your dreary soul could grow so incredibly high
Taste this kiss, I'd kill to feel like this, for all of my lifetime
Live and die beneath those velveteen skies

Na na na na na na
Velveteen skies
Na na na na na na
Velveteen skies
Hey
Velveteen skies
Heeey
Velveteen skies
Heeeeeeeey
Velveteen skies
Heeeey
Velveteen skies
Heeeeeeeey
Velveteen skies
