The midwestern state of Ohio has been closely contested in recent presidential elections. It has gone for the winner in the last eleven contests. Experts here say social issues helped swing the state Republican in the last two contests. But VOA's Jim Fry reports the faltering U.S. economy and loss of manufacturing jobs are dominating the contest this year between Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain.
