The inventors -- Huei-Hung "Chris" Liao and Yuping Lin -- are able to provide a smoother and more realistic 3D reconstruction than similar methods based on aerial photography. Applications include navigation, surveillance camera positioning, urban planning and more. This film is part of the USC Annenberg Graduate Fellowship Program's second annual Research and Creative Project Symposium, held April 29, 2010, which features multimedia presentations by Annenberg Fellows at the University of Southern California. Presenters exhibit original and exceptional scholarly work and/or creative projects that investigate questions in communication and digital media. The USC Annenberg Graduate Fellowship Program funds more than 100 world-class graduate students in the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and the USC Viterbi School of Engineering.
