Red-and-green Macaw. Scientific name: Ara chloropterus, Brazilian name: Arara-vermelha. Order: Psittaciformes, Family: Psittacidae. Also known as: Green Macaw and Great Red Macaw. Diet: Seeds, Fruit of the Buriti Palm (Mauritia flexuosa) and coconuts. Geographic Distribution: Found in some Brazilian states. Also found in Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia and Argentina.
