TROTWOOD -- Some elderly Greyhound bus riders said they were left out in the snowy, freezing cold Sunday night, literally as they waited for their bus. "I think it was ridiculous how they locked place up as cold as it was out there raining and the wind blew the rain and snow on us we has no shelter, said Myrtice Chambers. "It made me think somebody at greyhound is crazy, said Clayton resident Don Black. The elderly ladies are Blacks' relatives. 79-year-old Myrtice and her 88-year-old sister Jean were in town for a funeral. When Black was told what happened to them, he was outraged. "First of all these are senior ladies first of all but even if they were 15-year-old it was bad weather last night." We attempted to contact officials with greyhound and we were told local Regional Transit Authorites or the RTA were in charge of the terminal. We contacted Frank Ecklar and this is his response. "The RTA offers our sincere apology for regretfully not following established protocol by keeping the facility open beyond 11:00 p.m. - when necessary. This matter is being reviewed internally to insure this type of incident does not happen again". Although RTA officials said proper policies were not followed by closing down the hub with passengers still inside, we talked to some other folks who ride the Greyhound on a regular basis and they said it happened to them. Ronald Shorts is from Fort Wayne and attends Wilberforce University. "The bus didn't arrive until after the hub closed and they told me as long as I has my ticket I had to wait outside my friends has already left so I just stood outside and waited." Shorts said although it wasn't as cold as it is now he was concerned about something else... His safety. He said it was dark and everything when the area was closed. For Chambers, the experience was very unsettling."We had nobody to give us any information if the bus was coming or if it was cancelled i think it ridiculous for greyhound to treat people like that we not riding that bus for free we paying for our trip." We will be checking back with the RTA is see how the situation was handled.
