Hello friends, In this video tutorial you can learn how to using Date arithmetic in excel sheet. To calculate the number of Days, for which a guest has stayed in a room, you need to substract the Check in date from the check out date calculate the number of days follow this step

- move the cell pointer to cell check out date substract cell check in 

Next , calculate the charge payable by the guests.The room rate per day is stored in cell B4. follow this step

- Move the cell pointer to cell E7 and enter equal sign B4 multiplication D7 , here B4 contains the room rate per day and D7 contains the number of days first guest stayed in the hotel. In same way enter second guest detail 
- copy the formula in cell E7 to E8 . However you find that excel displays 0 as the result in cell E8.

- move the cell pointer to cell E8 and look at the formula used in this cell in the formula bar. 

It reads equal sign B4 multiplication sign D7 are one more than those used in cell E7 - equal sign b4 multiplication sign D7 this is relative addressing .
When you copy a formula one row down excel adjust the row numbers used in the formula by one row.
when we enter dollar sign symbol before the row and column number B4 is absulate - excel displays the correct result in cell E8 cell address does not change.
