Florian Wagner Makes One-of-a-Kind Journey, Landing With Help of OWC Ten countries. 100 hours of flying. 33,000 photos safely stored on OWC drives. Florian Wagner’s African Waters project spanned more than 10,000 miles, where his team captured beautiful 360-degree panoramic imagery of diverse African cities near rivers and lakes. However, the main objective of the ambitious journey wasn’t simply creating art – it was to create awareness for the need for responsible handling of our number one source of life: water. It’s a mission that will culminate in a coffee table book documenting the photographer’s mission. In the process of shooting the more than 33,000 photos that Wagner captured, his team dealt with extreme heat and cold, vibration from long helicopter rides, as well as dust and water. As the project’s primary sponsor, OWC provided Wagner with storage that would keep the data safe from the elements. From transferring images to editing, and for long-term storage, Wagner entrusted his irreplaceable work to OWC hardware. “We make sure everything we use is the best you can get,” Wagner said. “It’s too much work to risk losing, and without OWC – a product I trust – I wouldn’t have done it.” To further prove his trust in the durable OWC storage, Wagner experimented by taking the term “stress-test” to dizzying new heights. Wagner’s pilot for the project landed their 2,650-pound helicopter directly on four OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual mini’s, which contained the only copy of 9-weeks and 3.0TB worth of data.
