Just a quick experiment controlling the playback speed of a cassette player by CV! I removed the erase head (allows overdubs and seamless looping) and used a answering machine endless tape loop. Just recorded some orchestral music from the radio.

A PIC microcontroller reads the CV in (or voltage from control pot) and PWM's a 70Hz square wave fed to base of a TIP117 PNP transistor in series with the motor. The circuit is powered off the motor supply so is powered only during play/record. It can slow down the tape but not speed it up.. yet

Korg SQ-1 used to sequence the CV, with a Vermona Filter Lancet triggered from the SQ-1 gate and a EHX Memory Boy analog delay for some feedback fun.

I'll blog with the schematic soon!
