An interview with David Normal (http://www.davidnormal.com), visual artist and creator of an epic suite of 4 paintings, entitled collectively as 'Crossroads of Curiosity'. They were inspired from images from the British Library's Flickr commons collection (https://www.flickr.com/photos/britishlibrary/) that were released by the British Library Labs and Digital Research teams within Digital Scholarship at the British Library in December 2013. The original acrylic paintings were created at a scale of 3 feet by 8 feet and then scaled up into four 8 feet by 20 feet light boxes which stood around the base of the wooden Burning Man statue at the Burning Man event in the Nevada Desert between 25th of August and 1st of September 2014 (http://www.burningman.com/). The statue got burned at the end of the event. In this 5 minute interview with Mahendra Mahey and recorded on the 17th of October 2014 at the British Library in London. David tells the story of how the paintings came to life and how the release of the images from the British Library influenced his work.
