Several Mangaung municipal workers appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court today on charges of public violence, arson and contempt of a court order. Their appearance follows the torching of the Bloemfontein City Hall last week. A historical landmark, the City Hall was allegedly burnt down after the Municipality failed to sign an agreement with workers to end a strike that lasted for a number of weeks. According to the National Museum in Bloemfontein, the cornerstone of the City Hall was laid in 1934, and the building was completed in 1936. But what can be done to stop people from destroying the country's History and Heritage? For more news, visit: http://www.sabc.co.za/news
