Einstein talked and enjoyed being on the porch today. He was acting silly by climbing the chain up to the ceiling a few times, but he always climbed down and began talking again.

Here is the recipe for the Pumpkin Spice Parrot Treats (Dogs enjoy these treats too!)
1 cup organic canned pumpkin. (Pure pumpkin, not the pie filling that contains sugar.)
1 Tablespoon ceylon cinnamon*
1 cup of garbanzo bean flour. Any kind of flour can be used, I like garbanzo and sometimes quinoa flour because it is gluten free.
Combine the pumpkin, cinnamon and flour with a spoon until a soft dough forms (You may need less or more flour depending on how moist your pumpkin is.) You may also add some flax seed, sesame seed, chopped nuts, hemp seed, anything your bird may like. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls. Optional: A frozen pea can be pushed onto the top to simulate the "stem" of the pumpkin. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes on a greased cookie sheet. (Never use teflon cookware when you own parrots. Teflon emits a toxic gas when heated that will kill your birds.)
* Ceylon cinnamon is better for parrots because cassia cinnamon has a higher content of coumarins. Coumarins is a compound that inhibits blood clotting. Birds cannot afford to loose much blood so feeding cassia cinnamon creates an unnecessary risk. If you want to use cinnamon make sure it’s pure Ceylon.
 🐦
Einstein Parrot is a very talkative African Grey Parrot! He lives with us in our home in Texas and was hatched on June 15, 1997. Einstein is a silly, smart, and popular parrot who loves to talk and entertain! He is famous for his impression of Matthew McConaughey, (http://youtu.be/WecS9-3ISkk) NOT the "Einstein" that was featured on the TV show Animal Planet. He likes to talk on various "parrot approved areas" in our home, such as the kitchen drawer, the shower, kitchen chairs, napkin holders, and of course his play perches! Einstein has brought much joy to our lives, but training and living with a parrot requires time, patience, and sacrifice.
