Its been a long time coming, finally an update on my truck aka The Mean Green Machine. My 1976 Ford F250 Ranger had been sitting awhile but recently got her up and running again. She still needs a lot of TLC but I can pull it off. A little backstory for those who like reading the description section, I was but a young 23 year old when i bought Green in late 2006 as a beater truck to haul junk and whatnot. She had seen better days and her time was running out, not much longer after I got her, the transmission decided it was done. After pulling the trans I decided to check out the motor since it was smoking bad on the driverside bank of 460, two busted/cracked pistons and a few bent valves, as well as a very worn timing chain. Incredibly just a few days before pulling the motor and trans I was running down the highway at 60mph with no problem. Well against my dads words I decided right then I wanted to hot rod out my 3/4 ton truck. A trip to a local engine rebuild shop was warranted an so began her journey. I asked for RV cam and higher compression, she was then bored out .040 over and was giving hypereutectic pistons that were said to give me 9.7:1 compression over its original 8.0:1. I spent somewhere around 6000 dollars during the summer of 2007 rebuilding her entire drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and steering. I started on her bodywork but I was far to impatient and unskilled in sheetmetal repair so I gave up on that part and focused only on her drivability. For years I drove her when I could afford to keep her thirsty engine fueled, always ignoring the bodywork and just enjoying the drive. But that changes now, I am not getting younger and neither is Mean Green, I owe it to myself to complete what I started so many years ago.
