Life Technologies is proud to support the BioTechnical Institute of Maryland. The BTI Laboratory Associates Program provides tuition-free training in basic laboratory skills to bright, ambitious, unemployed and under-employed Maryland residents. Deric Richardson is a student at BTI. [video transcript] Gibco. Every little thing matters. "My main supporter was my mom; unfortunately I lost her earlier this year to cancer. That actually drove me more to continue and pursue life in the sciences, because I did want to try to find a cure for cancer or at least easier treatment for cancer. When the opportunity came to come to BTI on an accelerated program I jumped at the chance; I don't think I would have made it without'em; to be honest. From day one it just opened my eyes to so many things. It's just been, just magical since then." "I just finished my internship that they provided me for and I walked right into employment; and so it's helped me out a lot. I'm learning new things every day at my job and I owe it all to BTI and now I currently I'm actually seeking further education in the Fall and look for Doctor Richardson. I am proof, pretty much. I am proof that you can change and you can strive to do what you want to do. I have love for everyone here, because they actually help mold me into the person that I am now and what I am continuing to become; and BTI is number one." http://www.lifetechnologies.com
