in honor of college move-in season, I wanted to share with you something I came up with right around graduation time. I have my own personal connection with this song, so I'll leave it to you to find yours (:

Lyrics ©
now and then i take the long way home
spend the extra gas just to pass your road
i’d hear the songs we played, each time we drove this old highway
when we only had these stars to follow

it’s been a while since you and i had nights like that
i hope the magic’s still there when you’re looking back

[CHORUS]
when you leave this town, and move on out
i hope you think of me when you’re taking that look around, remember how
you always said you needed to run away
turn your rearview mirror on this dead-end place
but don’t forget the one who wanted you to stay
when you leave this town

think of all the trouble we would chase
that theater there where we had our first date
we’d kiss in your cherokee from ‘95, you always swore was too old to drive
does it remind you of this place?

[REPEAT CHORUS]

i hope you find what you’ve been dreamin’ of
and I know you’ll find somebody new to love
just remember who showed you how
when you leave this town

[REPEAT CHORUS]
