music: traditional (melody taken from an old antique 78 rpm record with Swedish comedian Anners Annersa på Hultet) lyrics: Björn Jakobsson recorded in June - July 2017 at Ealsden Digital Studio Skärholmen from the album "Old Dogs and New Tricks" (Treplektra TREPCD 75) © manus Good evening, both sweet ladies and dear gentlemen So nice to see you again This is your long lost friend I do not really have to introduce this guy But maybe I should try it anyway I’ve sung my lovely songs for three decades now I hear you utter: WOW! Yes, I can only bow I’ll take this opportunity and golden chance To greet my diehard fans this simple way I strum my guitar, my old Washburn guitar Brown skinned and curvy, a real superstar I can assure you, we’ve had lots of fun That’s the truth, as my name is Mister Jakobsson When I strum her strings it’s as if she would sing: “I am your queen and you are my king!” I’ll play her in the rain and I’ll play her in the sun, That’s love, according to Mister Jakobsson Wherever I will go in this lovely world I’ll have a female herd listening to every word Their eyes glisten like marbles on a sunny day They make my days less grey and brings me joy I sing so many songs about my broken heart How things fell apart I guess it is my art The songs they keep coming from my open jaws How about some applause for this lucky boy The ladies they seem though to be pretty shy ‘cause they won’t approach me and I wonder why When I then get closer, they all seem to run Playin’ hard to get to Mister Jakobsson! But I’m sure that they dream ‘bout me every night And when they wake up every morning so bright I know that they’re thinking: “Oh, he is the one! Please Lord thanks for Mister Jakobsson!” Of course my humble nature keeps me calm and nice I handle out advice that are incredibly wise That people do not ask for what I have to say, and even back away, when I come near I take that as a sign of this single fact They don’t know how to act When they get eye contact My blue eyes make their knees tremble and shake like a rattlesnake, all filled with fear One thing I will write about in my memoirs is when I went to Hollywood and met all the stars They looked at me and said: “Well, son of a gun! If it aint ma ole mate, Mister Jakobsson!” The day that I die, the whole world will grieve They’ll cry by my coffin and they’ll never leave When I’ll meet Saint Pierre, he’ll exclaim: “Ah pardon! This is not good enough for Monsieur Jakobsson!” “What an ostentatious dude!”
