This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Joeri talks about a miniature power plant that you can install on your property that allows you to become energy independent, drastically reduce your carbon emissions and lower your energy bills. By doing so, you can take control over your own power needs and empower yourself by taking action; no need to wait for government or someone else to make a difference in your energy needs and emissions. With an engineering degree in mechatronics, Joeri can transform an idea into a concept, turn the concept into a prototype and turn the prototype into mass production. He is deeply concerned about the stability of our climate and his ultimate goal is to take back some of the power that we have given away to the fossil fuel industry by building a miniature power plant for home use. Joeri will tell us how he literally aims to give the power back to the people! About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
