A Kansas City priest prepares to ride his bike across the country.

Father Matt Ruhl of St. Francis Xavier parish will go from Washington to Florida to raise money to fight poverty.

The idea is to put the money toward a multi-million dollar outreach center for the poor in Kansas City.

His love of adventure sparked the idea. He knows it's quite an undertaking - so he'll train and get pledges for two years before taking off.

KMBC 9's Jana Corrie reports.
