We're now below the Monastery. Our first challenge is a face boulder trying to crush us. It succeeds in crushing me for like 3 minutes because the camera angle along with Ryu's unreliable platforming make it much harder to get away from than it looks.

This place is also like the worst area in the game, in my opinion. The platforming is annoying, the enemies are annoying, and the game can't decide if there's fall damage or not. We run into a new Imp type enemy with purple skin and flaming heads. They have a grab move they can take advantage of and appear to be more aggressive than the brown versions. We also fight some fleshy, brain-like, bug-like enemies that fly around you and try to sting you. They can be taken care of with the Flying Swallow pretty easily, and with ranged attacks.

After we reach the bottom of this place and fill up the holy grail with bug blood, zombies start to come to life and crawl out from the ground and walls. (Don't ask.) The zombies come in two types, axe wielding and bow wielding. They're both pretty damn slow, but they have ridiculous amounts of HP and come in large numbers. They are the most boring enemies to fight in the entire game and if they actually pose a challenge it is only because of the player getting impatient with how they deal with them.

And they also introduce one of the most annoying parts of the game where 4 of the archers are parked on the platforms leading up, where you need to put the holy grail. They shoot you once, you fall down and will respawn them on your way back up. And since defeating them takes forever, you have limited platform maneuverability, and 4 of them are shooting you, it's infuriating. So just ignore them. They are not worth the effort.
