Rinpoche began by explaining who is Tara - there is no Tara other than the guru, Tara doesn’t exist without the guru. Rinpoche gave commentary on quote from Sutra Meeting Son in regards to how Buddha appears and shows different aspects to subdue the minds of sentient beings. This is the basis of guru yoga meditation. Rinpoche then spoke based on different quotations showing the importance of relying on the guru and how to regard the guru. The conclusion is that we need a guru and to correctly follow, not just rely upon. If you think the guru is buddha, then the buddha is always in front of that person and all the buddhas come from the guru. We must have a guru showing the path to enlightenment. That is very essence of guru yoga practice. We think Tara is so special but there is no Tara other than the guru.
