The second panel discussion, "Redefining Traditional Medical and Business Practices Around the Patient as Consumer," was moderated by David Cassak, managing partner and editor at Windhover Information, Inc. Panelists included John Lalonde, vice president of Latitude Research & Development at Boston Scientific; Marshall Stanton, vice president of clinical research and senior staff member of Medtronic, Inc.; Chris Kasabach, co-founder of BodyMedia, Inc.; Sidna Tulledge-Scheitel, medical director of global products and services at the Mayo Clinic; and Mike Lepp, vice president of external products at St. Jude Medical. David Cassak led an illuminating panel discussion between medical device company executives from Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and St. Jude and some new players to discuss how major device companies are going to incorporate new technologies into their products to engage consumers and integrate with EMRs. Chris Kasabach shared new affordable body sensors that BodyMedia has developed that are educating consumers on their own physiological information, and Dr. Tulledge-Scheitel presented on the Mayo Clinics approach to integrated health care.
