Thursday, the court heard the appeal by the civil society group Freedom of Religion South Africa (FOR SA), which believes that the 2017 South Gauteng High Court judgment which ruled that it is unlawful for parents to spank their children will make criminals of well- meaning parents. Danielle Ellerbeck from FOR SA says the organisation opposes any form of violence against children but the court needs to make a clear distinction between assault and mild spanking. Also joining us from our Cape Town studio is Carol Bower.
