When I was asked to play at the Castro Theatre for a Pedro Almodóvar film festival, I included this beautiful bolero in the program, from Almodóvar's 1986 film "Matador." The song "Espérame en el Cielo" was composed by Paquito López Vidal in 1956. Paquito López Vidal (1908-1994) was a Puerto Rican composer. In addition to "Espérame en el Cielo" he is known for his compositions "Mi Loca Tentación", "No me mires así", "Pétalos de rosa", "Estrella", "Fue por tu pecado", "Horas del ayer", "Lágrimas del corazón, "No te alejes de mí", "Pecado es amarte", "Toda una eternidad", and the danzón "Lena". "Espérame en el Cielo" is performed here on the Castro Theatre (San Francisco) Wurlitzer pipe organ by Harry Garland in August 2011.
