The race for the presidency in 2022 took center stage during the burial of Sabbela Kambura, the mother of central Imenti MP Moses Kirima Nguchine. Leaders from the MT Kenya region said Jubilee party will pick someone who will push through the agenda of the party. The leaders who included Rahim Dawood, Moses Kuria, Rindikiri Mugambi and Meru senator Mithika Linturi said they will back deputy president William Ruto. However, Tiaty mp William Kamket who was also present said that Baringo senator Gideon Moi was better placed to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta.
