Fresno police investigate shooting that sent one man to the hospital

A man in his twenties is in critical condition after he was shot in Fresno Saturday night, police say. At around 9:45 p.m., Lt. Larry Bowlan says the victim and another man were standing near a car at an apartment complex located at 3328 N. Marks Ave., just off of Dakota Avenue. Witnesses, although few, tell police an unidentified man in dark clothing walked up to suspect, they had a verbal exchange and the victim was shot in the upper torso. Bowlan says the suspect ran into a nearby neighborhood. When officers arrived, they administered first aid until emergency medical services showed up and took the victim to Community Regional Medical Center where he is undergoing surgery. Bowlan says the victim was conscious and breathing when he left the scene. As for a suspect, Bowlan says officers canvassed nearby neighborhoods and they do not have any leads.
