Few people know it as Union Square, named after the Union monument that celebrates the union of the Ionian islands with Greece in 1864. The majority know the area as "Spianada". These are shots taken from the southern end of the Square and you can also see the Statue of Dionysios Solomos , poet of the lyrics of Greece's national anthem and also the rooftop of Cavaglieri hotel. Behind the statue ,on the background, are Albania's mountains.
