Coral reef basement reno update part 4 Coral reef aquarium basement reno update. March 5th 2015 my basement renovation that I started roughly a month ago and slowly been working at it. From the 2x4 wood framing work to the electrical and air ducts rerouting. In this build I ised approximately 70 2x4 wood studs and roughly 12 2x6 for the TV accent wall. Moor Dry wall I used roughly 60 sheets for the walls and ceiling and bulkheads complete. The fish tank wall has been already framed up now for over 2 years and is doing great with lots of coral growth and I'm generally happy with the outcome of the reef tank. Very little time to maintain the tank, but as the tank and system is built to be as self maintained as possible that it allows me not to pay as much attention to it. Along with the fish tank wall and the TV wall we also installed a few boxes into the TV wall for the equipment such as able box and Dvd blue ray etc and HDMI cables. For the electrical I installed roughly 30 pot lights within the basement. With different switches to operate the different locations of pot lights designated to each area. As well as specific switches to operate the accent pot lights that are in the TV wall, above fish tank, along bulkhead and above TV wall in bulkhead. I can't wait to have all the electrical complete and basement walls and ceiling primed to settle the dust. As the drywall and plaster is now all complete and ready to start priming the ceiling and walls. From there I will be working on the electrical and installing the pot lights, plugs and switches along with the main feed that needs to be ran into the electrical panel with new breakers. Stay tuned for that. We still have more work to do such as prime and paint, finish electrical, install doors. Install flooring either tile or laminate. Install baseboards and door casing trim. Frame and box in the pole that is supporting the home that is resting under the I beam. Once the majority of the basement is complete I will be finally be finishing the fish tank wall with some stone or brick or oak wood. Let me know if you guys have any ideas what I should do to finished the fish tank wall install of just drywall! In this video I will be finishing all the electrical in the panel and at the switches and pot lights and plugs. From there installing the breakers in the panel. Wagons breakers. Next I will be squaring off the floor to start installing the new Porcelain tile. That measures 12"x24" and will be laid in a brick staggered pattern. Love this tile as it looks like wood flooring and durable! After installing the tile I will be cleaning out all the joints in between the tile and preparing it for grouting. The grout colour we choose is a grey pewter colour and is sanded grout. The cement used is called versabond cement which applies well to cement flooring as well as plywood. Thanks in advanced to everyone for watching and definitely stay tuned to the channel and subscribe for more videos coming your way soon!
