Lies Vanhaelemeesch, Michael Gaillez and Kurt Callewaert are lecturers at Howest, University College of West-Flanders, specializing respectively in innovation, programming and mathematics. The were part of a team that conducted an exploratory research project focused on emergent collectives under the project lead of Geert Hofman, curator of this TEDx. The question they are trying to answer is the following: how are governments, businesses and educational institutions leveraging the new technological possibilities? In this talk they each focus on a specific aspect of the environment in which emergent collectives function. Lies Vanhaelemeesch imagens a story about a traditional entrepreneur confronted with new emerging technologies. Michael Gaillez describes how governements think about those same technologies and how they could use these. Kurt Callewaert tells the story of how emergent collectives can be constructed once the new collaboration technologies get integrated into education.
