Energy Minister Assures No Fuel Shortage When Petrotrin Refinery Closes

Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Franklin Khan, has assured that there will be no disruption to the local supply of fuel once the Petrotrin Refinery is closed. During the Question and Answer period in the Parliament on Wednesday, Minister Khan said there will be a smooth transition from refinery fuels to imported fuels, and assured there is a sufficient stock of fuel readily available. Minister Khan said steps are already in place for the purchase of supplies of fuel from international traders. On the question of whether or not the price of fuel will increase come October 1st when the budget is read, Minister Khan said that is a matter for the Minister of Finance. He told the Parliament the Refinery will not be shut down instantly and reiterated that the plant will not be abandoned.
