New Tires And Other Maintenance On THE BIG SIX

After 73,000 miles, the tires on THE BIG SIX the tires that were on it had had it, they were down to the wear bars.  I do not know if those tires were original to the car or not, I'd expect not.

It so seems that 3 or 4 years ago, the wife's car needed tires, and I ended up going with Yokohama AVID Touring S tires.  After almost 40,000 miles and 3 or 4 years, they are still in absolutely fantastic condition, so I would put nothing BUT those tires on THE BIG SIX.  For contrast, I used to put Michelin MXV4 tires on Old Clanky, and they'd only last about 30,000 miles.  I will never buy Michelin tires again.

While on the subject of maintenance, I have had absolutely no trouble with this car since I got it.  I've had 2 minor annoyances that have been fixed for about $70 each.  First was the wheel sensor for the TPMS monitoring, and second was a broken sun visor.  Other than that, there has been no other work to do.  After this many years, things are starting to rust a bit underneath, and the front brakes have about had it.  Subsequently, I have replaced the front brakes, pads were approximately $40, and I did the work myself.  Otherwise it's been an extremely reliable car, and I've always been exceptionally pleased when I drive it.

While getting tires, it had come to my attention that the tires on the Bluick are about 25 years old!  They need to be replaced just for safety, and I will have them replaced next spring with Cooper Cobra tires, as the tires I put on must have the white lettering.

Also, THE BIG SIX will very likely continue to be a very reliable, low mileage car, as I don't drive much anymore, and I even show you my gas log book where you can see the proof.  Looks like THE BIG SIX was an EXCELLENT investment.
