Jacob Cowgill is a farmer, a baker, and an artist. He was born and raised in north-central Montana, between Sand Coulee and Eden. He received both his bachelor’s and his master’s degrees at the University of Montana.
He spent his early adult years searching for a career path that suited him, and it wasn’t until graduate school did he realize he wanted to be a farmer. In 2009, he and his wife, Courtney, started a diversified organic farm, Prairie Heritage Farm. They currently farm outside of Power, Montana on the Fairfield Bench, where they grow a wide variety of fresh vegetables and vegetable seed, cultivate ancient and heritage grains, raise heritage, pastured turkeys, and have a small orchard.
