Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (born 17 February 1954) better known and abbreviated as K.C.R., is an Indian politician who is 1st Chief Minister of Telangana, after the Telangana state got separated from Andhra Pradesh. He is the leader and president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a regional party in India.He is a Member of the Legislative Assembly (Telangana) from the Gajwel constituency of Siddipet District in Telangana. Previously, he served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (Andhra Pradesh) from Siddipet and also as the Member of Parliament from Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar and Medak. He took oath as the first Chief Minister of the new state of Telangana on 2 June 2014.


After the brief cabinet meets, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao left for Raj Bhavan to meet Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to convey the cabinet decision.

Telangana Governor approves the dissolution of the assembly and asks CM KC Rao to continue as caretaker Government till a new govt is formed reported ANI and the Chief Minister has agreed to the request.

The cabinet meeting began at 1 p.m. at Pragati Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s official residence, and concluded in less than 30 minutes.

KCR will later reach Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters, to formally announce the cabinet decision at a news conference. He is also likely to announce the first list of TRS candidates.

The Assembly term is till May 2019 and elections in normal course would be conducted along with the Lok Sabha polls.
