The recent video Russell Brand, Euro-trash again. has received volumes of hateful comments and messages from people in the United Kingdom. These Brits were in defense of Mr. Brands right of free speech and appreciation of his type of gutter humor. While promoting Mr. Brands free speech by these Brits in the USA, it seems free speech in the UK is not as free when it comes to certain protected groups in the UK. Make a hateful or disparaging statement about these protected groups in the UK, and one can face criminal charges. These groups are now enjoying a right not to be offended thus placing further restrictions on free speech.

In the USA (United States of America), free speech is protected by the Constitution, and numerous Supreme Court decisions. There is no protected right in the USA not to be offended. The byproduct of a free society with protected free speech will almost guarantee one to be offended. Truth is, the more you are offended, the more the right of free speech is respected.

There is a gentleman named Bill Balsamico who owns a bar / grill in Versilles, Pennsylvania named Casa D Ice. He has been posting rather outspoken if not offensive to some; signs in front of his establishment (see links below). No charges can be brought or filed against Mr. Balsamico because of his protected right to free speech in the USA. Would the same be said if Mr. Balsamico posted those same signs in the United Kingdom?

Here is his website:

If one is that sensitive where they can not handle being offended, then perhaps that person may want to seek residence in a nation other than the United States of America were as of date respect our freedom of speech is still protected.
