Improvisation 8-12-18 "Rex caelum"

The quote comes from Homer's Odyssey. This improvisation came to me in honor of a loss, and I feel like the key of D, which I naturally gravitated to here, did well to convey my feelings on the matter. I have always felt a sense of light and purity in D-Major, much more exalting and broad than the other keys, but without the ecstasy or light-heartedness of E or B.
