Beekeeping: Is this hive dying?

We are going into our first Fall/Winter with the bees. This inspection was right before we treated for mites and beetles. I think we may have waited to long before treating for mites, but I have been concerned about the chemicals in the hive. We don't see a lot of brood this time so I am concerned that the hive is failing. If you are a seasoned beekeeper and can offer some tips or advice I'd sure appreciate it. Someday I'll be awesome, but until then I will stay vulnerable and humble so you can help me :)
