We could have gotten modern breeds of chickens from a feed store in the city but instead went with the scrappy local breed. We could only get three hens and one rooster, so we've decided to let our hens go broody if they wish so we can raise up a bigger flock. This week, one of them has decided to sit and we're hoping she'll hatch out some chicks! Rachel pays her a visit and gets bit while I laugh.
