With the operation of handheld mobile phones whilst driving outlawed in many countries. let's face it, operating one whilst driving is a safety risk. Ralph VK3LL with the assistance of the Eastern and Mountain District Radio Club has designed a Hands Free Kit for Amateur Radio. Currently here in VK3 the use of a hand held microphone whilst driving is not an offence (Vic Roads Rule 300) but you would expect it is only a matter of time before it is outlawed, plus if you have ever tried hands free using Amateur Radio you will agree that operating hands free mobile is much safer than wrestling with the curly cord attached to the microphone. Kits will be available from February 2011, Ralph VK3LL put together this assembly video that explains the construction technique. Information regarding the project can be found on the EMDRC Website.
