(Encinitas) This is a video of Jose Damian discussing the plan and specs with our designer/architect Mary Wilkinson. This was a complex job of moving a second floor retaining wall. The work was performed perfectly, in time, at half the cost of what other contractors had bid. My wife and I (Terry Hunefeld and Ann Dunham) own the Inn at Moonlight Beach Bed and Breakfast in Encinitas. I advertised Craigslist and received 40 responses by email. I telephone interviewed 20 contractors and sorted it down to the best seven. I asked those seven contractors to email me the names and phone numbers of at least 4 past customers who I could telephone to get references. Four of the seven supplied the requested contacts. I telephoned all the references for all four contractors and found that the Damian Brothers stood head and shoulders above the rest. People could not say enough good things about the Damians. For some of the customers, the Damians had almost become family. Long story short: We hired the Damian Brothers to work with our architect and engineer to do a fairly complex addition to add a room on the second floor where we had to move a retaining wall to expand a room. The work involved roofing, framing, windows, doors, stucco, electrical, plumbing, carpeting, drywall and painting. They did it all. They did it right. The work was flawless. They did it quickly. They showed up on time every day with exactly the right amount of crew to get the work done quickly and efficiently. They were polite to a fault. All of their interactions with the Inn's guests were excellent -- the guests loved them, even with the power saws starting up at 9 a.m. Neither the Damians nor any of their crew were ever seen smoking. No swearing. No loud radios. But always hard work, moving quickly from task to task, doing the right the first time, every time. Oh, and did I mention that in the three months we worked together on two big projects, I never once found one of them or their crew sitting around or goofing off. Everybody was always working -- hard. When the engineer, architect and city building inspector came by to inspect with work, they more than once commented privately to us how excellent the work was. After the Bed and Breakfast job was done, we had a rental property (our former home) on the beach on Neptune Avenue in Encinitas that needed a complete renovation before being put for sale. Again, the Damians did a fantastic job inside and out, including stucco, building new closets, new walls, new windows, remodeling the entire bath, putting in new garage doors, panoramic doors and making the entire house look like brand new. The property sold within 2 weeks after they finished construction for more than $4 million dollars. Since then we have employed the Damians on other rental properties an maintenance items at the Inn at Moonlight Beach. They are like family. They always to what they say they will do, when they say they will do it, and the work is always impeccable. And the price is always very, very reasonable. I should know -- I was a licensed broker, builder and real estate developer in Michigan for 25 years before moving to SoCal. I know good contrtors and subs when I see them, and these guys are better than good -- they're fantastic. Jose and Javier are licensed, bonded and insured.
