Roxy learned a fun game: touch someone else's hand. This game can be played when you introduce your dog to a new person, once the dog is completely calm (30 minutes after meeting, when everyone is settled down). I do not recommend letting the stranger give dog treats at first because I do not want dogs to feel conflicted - wanting the treat, but fearing the person. In this game, the new person remains passive. Roxy approaches at her own pace, touches the person's hand, and runs back to her trusted human for a treat. Pairing the newcomer with a favorite game and a few tasty treats will help Roxy accept the person as a friend.
