Red Hill Fort -1914 Music: Russina Empire -March of the Life Guards Pavlovsly Regiment Fort "Red Hill" is one of two powerful coastal forts of the Krondstadt position Maritime Fortress of Peter the Great. The fort was a powerful mine-artillery position , firmly defended the approaches to St. Petersburg from the approach of large enemy ships. Construction under the leadership of Major General Apollo Alekseevicha Shishkin was launched in 1909 along with Fort Ino (Nikolaev) and completed by 1915, having been commissioned in early 1914. In 1919, it became the seat of the anti-Bolshevik uprising . During the Great Patriotic War, the fort became the centre of defense for the Oranienbaum bridgehead . After the war, the fort was maintained for some time in a combat-ready state, before being completely abandoned. In 2007, municipal authorities of Lebiazhie, the nearest town to the fort, planned to create a museum of the great fort........
