(KUTV) Kickstarter is a growing online, worldwide community where your innovative idea finds the support to become a reality. There are hundreds of creative endeavors, from stay-at-home entrepreneurs, to exciting new ideas in the world of technology. If you like a project, you can donate money towards their financial goal. And for one Utah start-up, they've found enormous support.Clint Gordon-Carroll and his partner Alen Peacock began their journey just 18 months ago. They came up with an idea for an online backup storage made more accessible to everyone by putting the cloud on your desktop. They call it Space Monkey.Space Monkeys different in that we dont have a data center. We store all of your data on a small device that sits in your home, Gordon-Carroll said. The device shares the data network among consumers, extensively lowering the cost for everyone.Space Money has had enormous Kickstarter success. We set it at $100,000 and we reached it in less than 8 hours, which was pretty impressive for us, Clint said. The Space Monkey project has currently raised a total of $268,881 from 2,383 pledges. If youd like to find out more about Space Monkey, or find support for your own great idea, visit http://www.kickstarter.com/(Copyright 2013 Sinclair Broadcasting Group)
