In a bid to help boost Japan's economic growth, the Japanese government announced the 2012 stimulus package known as Abenomics. Abenomics is a plan proposed by the country's prime minister Shinzo Abe, aimed at pushing Japan's economy out of deflation, and back towards growth. However, Francis Lui, a professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, says that "Abenomics" has had a negative impact on Japan's economy, leaving the government in more debt, and increasing pressure on inflation.
