The Supreme Court has banned employment of children in circuses. The court has also directed effective implementation of the Juvenile Justice Law in order to rehabilitate such children. The direction was made in a petition filed by Bachpan Bachao Andolan seeking ban on child employment and their rehabilitation.
The Juvenile Justice law shields children from death penalty and life imprisonment. It also has clear provisions to protect children in need of care and protection by establishing children's homes.
