Educational Innovations' website, teachersource.com, sells tons of unique science related items. One of those items is the eddy current demonstration. Neodymium magnets are one of the most powerful magnets in the world. When they are dropped down the aluminum tube it creates a magnetic field that strongly opposite to that of the tube. This results in the magnet dropping slower than a regular object. Drop the quarter at the same time (not down the tube) as the magnet and the students will marvel at the difference.
