At age 21, Sarah was a college student in Hattiesburg, MS when strange symptoms prompted a trip to the emergency room. The diagnosis was transverse myelitis - a paralyzing neurological disorder that occurs when the immune system abnormally attacks the spinal cord. Now, two years later, Sarah is working hard in therapy at Kennedy Krieger's International Center for Spinal Cord Injury and pushing herself towards recovery. A member of Team Kennedy Krieger for the 2012 Baltimore Running Festival, Sarah will tackle a tremendous personal challenge when she walks the 5K. As she celebrates every achievement, big or small, Sarah says, "There's always hope, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel".

To support Sarah, visit her personal fundraising page at http://bit.ly/PzilPt, or join us by participating in one of the 2012 Baltimore Running Festival events.
