This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. "When I was your age I used to walk miles to and from school everyday." A familiar phrase of parents to their children. Turns out it might just be true. Sandy argues that we should be getting our children to power down their electronics and power up their physical activity.

Sandy Treagus is the Chief Financial Officer of Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC). He lives the MEC lifestyle, being active as a triathlete, kayaker and skier. As a father with young children, Sandy believes in the importance of sport and an active lifestyle for children.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
