Madrasas are not schools says Maharashtra government

As per reports, the Maharashtra government has decided that madrasas will no longer be recognised as schools because these don't impart formal education. Madrasas only impart religious education, the government argued. The state government's decision came after madrasas failed to comply with the government directive to teach subjects like science, maths and social science to children.
