CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A teacher's aide in the Cincinnati Public School system is on leave while the district checks allegations that he tried to contact an individual who was posing as an underage girl and exchanged sexually suggestive messages. A Facebook video was posted by a group calling itself Parents Against Predators Nationwide. Some members of the group that posted the video go into online chat rooms and pose as underage teens. In this case, the group says a man fell for the bait, and a couple of group members confronted him downtown Monday night. In the conversation, it comes out that the supposed teen was 15 and about to turn 16, the age of consent in Ohio. But, of course, she did not really exist. Local 12 is not identifying the man or his specific school because he has not been charged with any crime, and he is only suspended with pay for now. A district spokesperson says they are taking these allegations seriously and are investigating. The group that posted the video says it will turn over text messages and other evidence to the prosecutor's office. However, a Cincinnati Police spokesperson said when there is no actual victim and police are not involved at the beginning of an investigation, there's no crime. The spokesperson says it's better for groups to turn over information to authorities first and let an investigation go from there.
