Karl Fisher is a man of many faces covered up by one glorious red beard. After completing a music degree at Penn State University (by playing a mean fiddle), he promptly started a career in church ministry as a youth pastor. Meanwhile, Karl developed a love affair with coffee, a love exceeded only by that for his wife, Bethany. He taught himself how to roast coffee using a popcorn maker and began to develop a vision for making coffee as an art form. His commitment to his community and determination to make his business a contributing factor to the cultural health of the community, Karl is leading by example. Karl wakes up every day living his dream of cultivating community through the elevation of coffee culture. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
